MY MOTHER SAID
by Carol Moon
13 January 2006

My Mother said

Don't be afraid of this day

13 is a number only

And you Little One

Are a fact of living

My Mother said

Don't be afraid of this day

T'is another step for you

To explore all kinds of things

Don't be afraid of this day

My child

Walk towards it, straight towards it

Then, then the trembles will disappear

My Mother said.

MY MOTHER SAID
by Bithi Das

If your right palm is itching
You are going to get some money
I always used to believe that
But it never happened to me.

So many times I had the palm itching.
But to my surprise
It was I who had to spend money
For some reason or other.

Now I am a mother
I never tell the tale
to my younger generations

It is only in the mind.

My Mother Said

Green was an unlucky colour and she never wore
anything coloured green. Myself, I love the colour
though for years I had my qualms and nervously
would wear green until I clean forgot her sayings
and now I am a green and pleasant land lover of
all shades of green.
