FROM MY WINDOW
by Bithi Das

From my window I see my Garden, it needs tidy up
I like to be in my garden because it needs me.
In my Garden, I see a robin who sings non-stop
To cheer me up.

REBIRTH
by Bithi Das
21.09.2006

If I die this winter

My body will die
but I shall be alive
and come back to your garden.

You will see the white snow-drops,
the first blossoms in spring
after the harsh snows in the winter.

The snow will melt
but the snow drops
will be everywhere.

As the spring brings new life and hope
you will hope that the garden
will be alive again.

But you won't know I am there
and it is me who has born again.
The bird will sing and I will dance.

You will smell the fragrance of mine.
But you won't know
I am there.

I am born again in this beautiful world.

THIS POEM IS CALLED 'REVIVE'

REVIVE

By Bithi Das
15.02.2007

No I didn't die this winter
To be born as snowdrops in this world.

Instead, I went to see the snowdrops field
In Rococo Garden in Painswick Park.

It is spring, and everywhere snowdrops
I wanted to greet them to say hello and how are you?

Two days earlier, the snow fell heavily
       Snowdrops were covered with snow.

They became one with white little flowers
       Peeping all over the field.

I sing to them "Snowdrops keep falling on my feet"
They dance to me saying "I love you."

No, I didn't want to go from this world
        I wanted to revive.

BITHI DAS
IN MY GARDEN

(written for the 2010 Camden Green Fair)
first draft 03.06.2010

If you say:
                       I am too sick
To do my daily duty

I must say:
                      I will give up everything
But I won't neglect my garden.

My Garden needs me.

All the flowers are blooming
                      In multi-colours
Attracting wild insects.

Honey bees, bumble bees
Taking nectar from my flowers
And going away to make honey
                       In their home.

It is spring and I am proud to see
So many wild things living in my garden.

My Garden is a Garden of Eden
Everything Grows There.

                                                                 Even me.

CAMDEN GREEN FAIR 2006

Years ago in Morroco
I saw women
Drawing water from the well

It looked wonderful
To see young girls
Old women, children

Dressed in their beautiful clothes
Gracefully carrying water
On their heads every day

This year we have a drought
And a hose pipe ban and
I am the one carrying water

My arms ache with the load
It isn't so
picture perfect.

British Trust Conservation Volunteers (BTCV)
volunteers, greeen gyms, green heroes

BTCV is an international volunteering organization supporting
conservation initiatives in the United Kingdom and
elsewhere. BTCV works with 628000 volunteers a year, and
specialises in working with people within their
communities to bring about positive environmental change
in both rural and urban settings.

Established in 1959,  and working through a wide range
of partnerships, they have over 50 years' experience of
managing volunteer programmes, developing and delivering
community support, and running employment and training initiatives.

In the early years, BTCV developed volunteering
as a means to achieve an environmental goal.
A bigger picture is now emerging where conservation
volunteering is also becoming a focus for the achievement
of wider social goals - tackling social exclusion and
encouraging personal development and lifelong learning.

BCTV's purpose is to ensure that the potential of
voluntary action for the environment is fully realised.

Their vision is of a world where people value their
environment and take practical action to improve it.

BTCV believes that it can best maximise its long-term
sustainable impact by expanding the boundaries of
conservation volunteering and welcoming the involvement of all.

Our aims are to:

* Involve more people in practical environmental action.

* Work increasingly at a local level.

* Ensure that training and education
are key components of all activities.

* Use influence to help make voluntary action
in the environment relevant to the government's
broad social, economic and environmental objectives.

* Work with partners to achieve shared objectives.

* Respond to customers' and supporters' needs
more effectively.

* Maintain a commitment to quality.

* Be financially viable.
