Advisors for the Historical Virtual
Tour were poet and playwright Kim Morrissey (writer-in-residence for
the Purple Poets) and local history buff Gemma Jordan, of the Marchmont
Association.
The Virtual Tour includes historical highlights as well as a discussion of
our neighbourhood's buildings. People are invited to bring their own snippets
of history, anecdotes, and poems to share with the other workshop
participants.
As well as the Virtual Tour, there will be a Writing Workshop led by
Kim Morrissey and poet Ali Zayed, of Cybergate Internet Cafe to teach you
how to turn your own memories or Heroes into Postcard Heroes - and you can

ONE OF THE POEMS BY THE PURPLE POETS
TO BE READ OUT ON THE WALK:
POEM FOR
KENNETH WILLIAMS:
Blue Plaque:
57 Marchmont Street
(unveiled October 11th 2009)
(by Michael Kielty)
An icon famed for his many expressions
His Blue Plaque is one of our prize possessions.
His name, his name, I hear you request
He needs no Introduction, he was the Best!
A local lad and confirmed bachelor, born and bred
Still famous, still remembered, though 21 years dead.
His name, his name, don't try to spin it
I'll tell you his name in Just a Minute!
For 62 years he brought mirth and fun
A gift from God, a chosen one.
Don't Carry On, I hear you shout
His name! His Name! Stop messing about!
No infamy for this Star of Radio, TV, Stage, and Films
Yes, you've guessed it! It's the late great Kenneth Williams.

this is an on-going project.
