Poet Laureate Andrew Motion
gave the keynote speech and read with the tutors and the London Time Bank
Poetry Groups at the Poetry Café, Betterton Street, London on
October 6th 2005 (5pm: Waterloo; 5:08:West Euston Purple Poets; 5:18: My
Time, Our Time; 6pm, Rushey Green; 6:21: Middlesex University; 6:27: Clapham
Park; 7pm: New Addington; 7:05 Charles Dickens School; 7:12: Deptford and
New Cross).
Andrew Motion was appointed Poet Laureate in May 1999. He is a Fellow of
the Royal Society of Literature and lives in Camden. In 2005 he was appointed
Professor of Creative Writing at Royal Holloway, University of London.
In addition to making regular visits to schools and Festivals, he has also
co-founded The Poetry Archive, a web-based collection of poets reading their
work which will have a significant value for general readers as well as teachers
and students (it includes a dedicated 'education zone').
