PROCEDURE. First I told the group the strory of Little Red Riding Hood  and then we discussed various versions of the story. Ttraditional English and Canadian versions have Little Red Riding Hood being saved by a Woodsman, who chops down the door to Granny's House with his axe, kills and chops open theWolf, and Granny pops out of the Wolf's belly Other versions have the Wolf hiding the Granny in the closet.  Eppie told us that in The Phillipines, it is the Grandmother, not the Woodsman who saves Little Red Riding Hood, and we all agreed that was a better way for the story to be told. Nahar also said she had heard that it was the Grandmother who saves her grand-daughter, and that she was out when the Wolf comes, collecting herbs in her garden, which is why the Wolf could take her place. For the first draft, we have decided that Granny would try to catch the wold, but if she couldn't, that she would just chase the wolf away.

Although we didn't have time to work out the logical and emotional connections in the first draft, we will be doing so in the second draft (WHY does Little Red Riding Hood come to visit? If her granny is ill, why is she in the garden? should she be called 'Granny' or something else?).
